Cranberry and Port Sauce

Cranberry and Port Sauce is one of the basics that everyone should know how to prepare. It is far better than the sauce you can buy from the supermarket.

Portions: 750g Cranberry Sauce

Preparation: 5 minutes

Cooking: 10-15 minutes

Ingredients

Cranberry and Port Sauce

  • 500g cranberries
  • 300ml port
  • 200g caster sugar

Method

  1. Cranberry and Port Sauce: Wash the cranberries and place them in a saucepan with the sugar and port and leave to cook for the 10 minutes over a moderate heat, stirring regularly so as not to burn the bottom of the pan. The cranberries should collapse, the sugar dissolve and the port reduce so that you have a sweet thick sauce. Remove it from the heat and allow to cool. Refrigerate in a covered container until ready to serve. The Sauce will keep for 10 days.
