NZ — South Island
The Nelson Market transforms Montgomery Square into a bustling marketplace every Saturday morning. More than 200 stallholders showcase the region’s bounty: seasonal fruit and vegetables, olives, honey, artisan cheeses, breads, fresh seafood, handmade crafts and art. Established in 1988, this iconic market has become the heart of Nelson’s creative food and craft scene.
Locals and visitors come early to sip coffee, listen to street musicians and wander through the colourful aisles of produce and handmade treasures. The market operates in all weather, and its central location makes it easy to combine with shopping in Nelson’s nearby boutiques and cafés. A separate Sunday flea market runs at the same venue during summer.
