These scones are fun for children to make and are great for young and old to eat. You can vary the scones by adding chopped mixed herbs or grated cheese instead of raisins or sultanas.

Ingredients
Fruit Scones
25g raisins or sultanas
100g wholemeal flour
1/2 tsp margarine or butter
2 teaspoons caster sugar
150ml milk
Method
Preheat an oven to Gas mark 8 or 230°C or 450°F.
Sieve the flour and the baking powder into a large mixing bowl.
Cut the margarine or butter into cubes and rub into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture is very fine.
Mix in the sugar and then the raisins.
Make a well in the middle and pour in the milk.
Using a knife mix to a soft dough. Add a little more milk if you need to.
Flour the board and turn out the dough. Knead it until it is smooth.
Roll out with a roiling pin but not too thin!-about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut out the dough into different animal shapes and place them on a greased or floured baking tray.
Brush them with the milk and bake in an oven for 10-15 minutes or until they are well risen.
